Why Marine Detailing Isn't Just Car Detailing on a Boat

Gelcoat-specific expertise.

Gelcoat isn’t automotive paint — it oxidizes and stains differently, and needs different chemistry and technique to restore correctly. We treat it as its own discipline, not a repurposed car process.

System X® marine ceramic coating.

The same certified system we use on cars and aircraft, engineered for the specific demands of saltwater exposure, UV, and marine growth.

Serviced at your slip or dock.

No hauling out, no travel lift, no waiting for a haul-out slot — we come to your vessel where it already sits.

Local water, local knowledge.

Based minutes from where the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers meet near Harpers Ferry, we understand what this specific stretch of water does to a hull and gelcoat over a season.

One team for the boat and the tow vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should my boat be detailed?

We recommend a professional marine detail at least once or twice per season, depending on how frequently your boat is used and stored. Regular cleaning and protection help prevent oxidation, staining, UV damage, water spotting, and premature deterioration of marine surfaces.

Yes. Many surface scratches, fading, and oxidation can be significantly reduced or removed through professional compounding and polishing. The appropriate correction process depends on the condition and thickness of the gelcoat or painted surface. Severe damage or deep scratches may require additional repair.

Polishing restores; waxing protects. Polishing uses abrasives to remove oxidation, haze, minor defects, and weathering to restore gloss and clarity. Wax or another marine protectant is then applied to help preserve that finish and protect the surface from UV exposure, water, and environmental contamination.

Please remove personal belongings, valuables, and unnecessary equipment from the areas being serviced and make sure we have clear access to the boat. If the boat is stored at a marina or secured facility, please arrange any necessary access or authorization before our arrival. We’ll bring the professional equipment and products needed to complete the service.
